I Teaching objectives:
1. Human medicine students: the department gives the third year students of human medicine a scientific education on the medical micro-organisms and immunology, by the end of the curriculum students will have achieved the following:
• Know the importance of medical bacteria.
• Understand how to take medical samples for analysis.
• Acquire the ability to imagine the laboratory results and link them with the different stages of the disease.
• Learn how to make germ farms and study the impact of microbial antibiotics on them.
• Know methods of diagnosis and prevention, and treatment of various bacterial diseases, as well as immune diseases.
• Understand basic information on the immune system in the human body and how it works to resist disease and infection, as well as diseases resulting from the deficiency of this system.
• Understand the immune diagnosis methods and the different laboratory reactions and how to use them in the diagnosis of diseases.
2 For students of dentistry: The department teaches students of the third year dental school medical micro-organisms and immune system. At the end of the school program the dental students would have achieved the following:
• Know germs and viruses of medical importance that cause gum disease and tooth decay in addition to the major diseases in other parts of the body, such as hepatitis, skin diseases, infectious and other diseases, as well as the ways of transmission and how to prevent them.
• Understand the various methods of sterilization and the most important ones for the sterilization of utensils used by the dentist.
• Understand basic facts on the immune system in the human body.
3 For nursing students: The department teaches medical micro-organisms science for the second year nursing students and by the end of the program, nursing school students would have achieved the following:
• Knowledge of germs and viruses of medical significance that cause main diseases in the human body and knowing ways of transmission and how to prevent them.
• Understand the various and very important methods of sterilization of medical utensils used by the doctor.
• Understand basic information on the immune system in the human body.
4 For graduate students: the Graduate Program Department is divided to two parts. The first part is based on theory and the second is based on research. During the first year of study the student takes few advanced courses in the micro-organisms medical science and immunology, and in the second year the student starts a research project in the area of micro-organisms and at the end of the second year the student presents his research for discussion.

The department makes private researches on medical micro-organisms and immunology that serve the environment.
